Honorable Mention: Semi Ojeleye, SMU Mustangs

Position: Small Forward
Age: 22 (12/5/1994)
Height, Weight, Wingspan: 6’7″, 235 pounds, 6’9.5″
2016-17 Slash Line: .491/.428/.779
2016-17 Season Averages: 34.0 MPG, 18.9 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 1.6 APG, 2.1 3PM

Semi Ojeleye began his college career as a rarely utilized reserve with the Duke Blue Devils. During the 2016-17 season, however, he’s broken out as one of the most dynamic scorers in the country with the SMU Mustangs.

Ojeleye may be destined for a career as an NBA role player, but he has the type of game that the New York Knicks should covet.

Ojeleye’s primary strength is a combination of size, length, and range as a 3-point shooter. He’s one of the best marksmen in the country, as evidenced by his 71 3-point field goals made on 42.8 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

In Jeff Hornacek’s offense, it stands to reason that Ojeleye could play either forward position and excel as a borderline elite 3-point shooter.

Ojeleye has the athletic ability to finish above the rim and the strength to finish through contact. His defensive intensity must improve, but he could be a potential steal during the second or late first round of the 2017 NBA Draft.

If the Mustangs are going to make a run through the 2017 NCAA Tournament, it’s going to be on the strength of Ojeleye’s play.
