Easily the biggest name on the trade market is Detroit Pistons star Andre Drummond. An All-Star big man who has youth on his side, Drummond is viewed by some as a potential franchise player—whether that be for Detroit or another organization.

According to Zach Lowe of ESPN, the Pistons are exploring possibilities and could be open to trading Drummond if the right package is offered.

"Detroit has quietly explored the trade market for each of its franchise centerpieces, according to sources across the league, and come away disappointed with the potential return."

The New York Knicks are unlikely to have the necessary pieces to pique Detroit’s interest, but this is a trade possibility that must be acknowledged.

Drummond was named to the All-NBA Third Team and the All-Star Game in 2015-16. He led the NBA in rebounds per game and helped the Pistons reach the playoffs for the first time since the 2008-09 season.

During the 2016-17 campaign, however, Drummond’s production has declined and his free throw shooting continues to be problematic.

It’s hard to imagine the Knicks having enough trade pieces to get something done for Drummond, no matter how intriguing a possibility it may be. If the Pistons decide to move the franchise player, however, that will be a move that changes the entire Eastern Conference.

If the Knicks are going to turn the organization around, then they must be aware of what’s available to them and what could be happening around them.
