5. Affordable Contract

The New York Knicks will have between $20 and $32 million in cap space during the summer of 2016. Most expect a majority of that money to be spent on a star-caliber player, which beckons a very important question.

Where will New York find the money to flush out the rotation with quality role players?

To answer that question, look no further than restricted free agent Langston Galloway. A quality all-around player who has helped New York on both ends, Galloway has a qualifying offer worth just $2,725,003.

Galloway will make more than $2.725 million in 2016-17, but his new contract shouldn’t be much of a burden whatsoever.

The salary cap will be $94 million for the 2016-17 season, and is expected to rise to more than $110 million in 2017-18. Thus, the Knicks could potentially sign Galloway for an average of $5 or $6 million per season, and not pay much of a price because of it.

Galloway is a very solid player who deserves a new deal, but one would be remiss to ignore how much more intriguing his affordable financial projection makes him.
