Knicks Rumors: Pros And Cons Of Pursuing Kent Bazemore
Con: Isolation Offense
Kent Bazemore is a respectable 3-point shooter who can space the floor with consistency. He’s also an explosive athlete who can easily play above the rim and impact a game in transition.
What Bazemore struggles to do is create his own offense.
Bazemore can attack a closeout and get to the rim as a straight-line finisher. He’s not much of a threat when the opposing defense is set, however, as he lacks the creativity in his ball-handling to get by a committed defender.
New York isn’t necessarily longing for an elite isolation scorer, but having a capable 2-guard is a priority.
If the Knicks are unable to land a facilitator in free agency, then Bazemore could struggle offensively. Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis are the go-to scorers, but Bazemore would be far more efficient with a playmaker to set him up.
Bazemore is improving his handles, but he needs to make further progress.
