Pro: Explosive Athleticism

As has been stated on more than one occasion, the New York Knicks need to build a more athletic perimeter. Far more is required than mere athleticism, but the absence of such is a significant weakness.

If nothing else, Kent Bazemore can fix that flaw by providing an incredible measure of explosiveness.

Bazemore’s athleticism translates to high-level production on the defensive glass. For statistical perspective, he’s averaged at least 6.0 rebounds per 36 minutes in each of the past two seasons.

That tenacity on the glass, as well as his ability to quickly turn up court, can be of dramatic aid to the Knicks’ efforts in transition.

In the halfcourt, Bazemore’s ability to play above the rim makes him a constant threat in off-ball situations. It also enables him to be a supreme threat in attacking a closeout, driving, and finishing above the rim.

Under head coach Jeff Hornacek, Bazemore could potentially have Gerald Green type success with superior defensive consistency.
