Point Guard: Walt Frazier

Walt Frazier is the greatest point guard in franchise history—and, arguably, one of the Top 10 point guards of all-time. That makes him the obvious selection to fill the New York Knicks’ starting role.

An elite on-ball defender, gifted facilitator, and master of clutch scenarios, Frazier is the ultimate floor general for New York’s all-time lineup.

Frazier, who stands at 6’4″, was a seven-time All-Defensive First Team honoree. That’s the foundation for his value to the starting lineup, as his size and defensive prowess would translate to any era.

It goes without saying that having an elite on-ball defender is an ideal way to begin the construction of a starting five.

A two-time NBA champion and six-time All-NBA honoree, including four First Team nods, Frazier was just as grand of a winner as he was a defender. He lived for big games, scored at virtual will, and did a wonderful job of managing egos as a facilitator.

Frazier, who recorded 36 points and 19 assists in Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals, would keep New York in games against any caliber of competition.
