Amar’e Stoudemire Calls Out Carmelo Anthony on the handling of Linsanity and his leadership. Melo Responded.

This past weekend, former-Knick Amar’e Stoudemire returned to the Big Apple with the Miami Heat. The Heat threw a beat-down in Madison Square Gardenwinning the game 98-81, while Stoudemire threw some shade at Carmelo Anthony

Stoudemire called out Anthony about the situation surrounding “Linsanity”, and the free agency of Jeremy Lin in the aftermath.

"“If [Lin] stayed, it would’ve been cool,’’“But everyone wasn’t a fan of him being a new star. So he didn’t stay long. Jeremy was a great, great guy, great with teammates, worked hard. He put the work in. We were proud of him having his moment. A lot of times you got to enjoy somebody else’s success. That wasn’t the case for us during that stretch. You got to enjoy that and let that player enjoy himself and cherish those moments. He was becoming a star and I didn’t think everyone was pleased with that.’’"

If you will recall, this wasn’t the first time Stoudemire threw Anthony under the bus. Amar’e basically suggested that Melo forced Mike D’Antoni to resign as the New York Knicks head coach in March of 2012.

The resignation came just weeks after D’Antoni’s high-octane offense, pick-and-roll, pace-and-space style created the phenomenon we now know as “Linsanity” WHILE Anthony was hurt. When Anthony returned, the team moved away from the pick-and-rolls, and more towards isolation plays… which is the reason D’Antoni left according to Stoudemire, as per Frank Isola of the New York Daily News.

"“I know he tried to implement a certain system,” “And everyone wasn’t buying into it, so he may have been a little frustrated so he felt stepping down was the best way for him.”"

D’Antoni’s system benefited Lin. The interim head coach, Mike Woodson‘s heavy isolation offensive system benefited Anthony. Funny how that worked out HUH!?….

Subsequently Lin soon left the Knicks as well during summer free agency, signing with the Houston Rockets for $25 million despite owner James Dolan declaring he would match any offer. It also probably didn’t help that Anthony called the offer a “ridiculous contract“…

Now it doesn’t matter wither Stoudemire’s previous and current statements are true, or not, because Anthony completely denies them.

"“Wasn’t that five years ago?’’“I don’t know. I have no comment on that. If [Lin] was becoming a star, we should embrace that. We didn’t embrace that? If that was the case, I’d be upset with KP [Kristaps Porzingis] right now. But I doubt he’s talking about me. I highly doubt that.”"

A valid point by Melo. Now it would have been fine if everything stopped right there… but Stoudemire also questioned Anthony’s leadership this past weekend…

"“It’s tough, man. You get involved in this situation, you have to take ownership of it. Ownership has to be make sure you make the right decisions for your team and teammates. You have to become a complete player to bring your team out of a rut. And everyone can’t do it. It’s not always easy.’’"

It has definitely been tough on Anthony and the Knicks ever since New York got SMOKED by the Indiana Pacers in the 2013 Eastern Conference Semifinals… A 37-win season, followed by a franchise-worst 17-win season last year… and now currently sitting as the third-worst team in the Eastern Conference with a 25-36 record… Yeahhh… not great…

Well… good thing New York’s superstar took the high road and just left it at that.

O WAIT… no that didn’t happen at all… Anthony took to social media Monday afternoon, posting three messages in what can only be shots fired back at Stoudemire.
