Carmelo Anthony Named 2016 NBA All-Star Starter!
The final tallies are in for the 2016 NBA All-Star Game!
New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony made it as a starter!
Melo JUST beat out Pau Gasol for the third and final Eastern Conference frontcourt starting position, holding a narrow margin of 360 votes over the Spaniard.
Gasol made a huge jump from the third release of votes to the final release, gaining 272,816 additional votes in that time period – going from fifth leading vote-getter to almost becoming a starter. From the previous releases, Andre Drummond was the player most likely to surpass Anthony but only gained 153,989 votes in the final tally.

Anthony joins LeBron James, Paul George, Dwyane Wade, and Kyle Lowry in the starting lineup. Anthony took to social media to thank all his fans for voting him in as a starter, saying he was humbled to be headed to Toronto for his ninth NBA All-Star appearance.

Anthony is currently averaging 21.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. This marks the highest assist average in his career! Anthony is having the best passing season in 12 years, with a 21.2 assist% when he is on the court per Basketball-Reference.
It looks like Anthony is trusting his teammates more this season. Look no further than the previous game against the Utah Jazz, where Anthony made great passes with the game on the line down the stretch. Melo dished out five assists in the fourth quarter and overtime of the 118-111 victory Wednesday night.
Oh, and Anthony passed the legendary Larry Bird on Wednesday night as well! Melo became number 31 in the All-Time scoring list. Anthony’s trip to Toronto is well deserved, he is having a great 2015-2016 season.
