Tuesday, January 5 is one of the most important dates of the 2015-16 NBA regular season. It signals a time in which teams can alter their respective rosters without a permanent commitment to the players by whom they’re intrigued.

The question is, who should the New York Knicks target as the first recipient of a 10-day contract?

10-day contracts offer teams an excellent opportunity to evaluate talent without investing serious money or time into their potential. Said players generally spend the 10 days on the main roster, traveling with the team and receiving some measure of playing time to thus evaluate their potential fit.

For the Knicks, this opportunity cannot be squandered. Just a season ago, the extension of a 10-day contract is what helped New York discover the potential of both Langston Galloway and Lance Thomas—key players on the 2015-16 roster.

The following players may not be cure-alls, but they could follow in Galloway or Thomas’ footsteps.
