Remember this guy? Thanasis Antetokounmpo was explosive during the summer of 2015, utilizing the offseason to progress from being The Greek Freak’s brother to having a bright future with the New York Knicks.
Surprisingly, Antetokounmpo was left off of New York’s main roster.
Antetokounmpo still can’t hit a jump shot, but he’s an explosive wing who flirts with unstoppability in transition. The 23-year-old plays above the rim and flashes elite potential as an on-ball defender—all traits which New York should be searching for.
Antetokounmpo’s name hasn’t surfaced, but that doesn’t mean he should be overlooked or forgotten.
New York is currently dead last in both fast break points and points in the paint per game. Adding an athlete of Antetokounmpo’s caliber would not only improve the offense, but help the transition defense.
This one’s a long shot, but Antetokounmpo has been on the radar for more than two years.
