Fantasy Booking Knicks into WWE SummerSlam

facebooktwitterreddit

WWE is taking over New York on the weekend of August 23, 2015.

It will be nerdvana for professional wrestling fans, with a multitude of events being held at the Barclays Center.

WWE will be holding meet and greets with Superstars and Divas on Friday and Saturday.  The lineups include Shawn Michaels, Sting, Bray Wyatt, Dean Ambrose, Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins , Paige, Charlotte and Becky Lynch.

Saturday night the Barclay Center will be hosting WWE Presents NXT Take Over: Brooklyn, which is the equivalent of the development league for the WWE. The main attraction SummerSlam pay-per-view will be held Sunday night, followed up by WWE Monday Night Raw on DUHHH Monday night.

SummerSlam is the second largest event of the year for all wrestling fans, with me being a huge wrestling nerd, I thought it would be fun to fantasy book matches with New York Knicks players.

Intercontinental Championship

More from Daily Knicks

Looking through the card, the easiest one to fantasy book was inserting Kristaps Porzingis into the Triple Threat match for the Intercontinental Championship. For obvious reasons this would be the perfect fit, Porzingis would be the only non-American in a match-up for the Intercontinental Championship

Can you just hear it now?

From Liepaja, Latvia, weighing at 232 lb.

KRIS-taps-Pooor-ZING-as!

The best part is, Porzingis already has an entrance song!

The original match features Ryback vs. Big Show vs. The Miz. Right from tip-off, I would replace Big Show with Porzingis. I do not even really understand why Big Show is in this match…other then to put over Ryback, by allowing Ryback to display his physical tools over a 450 lb. Big Show. The Big Show is just sooo boring (sorry Big Show, you were great back in the days but not anymore)…

The way I see the new Triple Threat Match [Ryback vs. The Miz vs. Kristaps Porzingis] going is that Porzingis and The Miz double-team the psychically bigger Ryback to start the match. After taking care of Ryback, Porzingis and The Miz would turn on each other, then Ryback makes his comeback just as The Miz gets the upper hand on Porzingis.

With Porzingis out of the match, Ryback destroys The Miz with all his signature moves. When Ryback Shell Shocks the Miz, Porzingis distracts the referee, WHILE his brother COMES OUT OF NOWHERE taking Ryback out of the match ringside. Porzingis takes advantage of this and pins The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship.

YES! Porzingis is a heel! Porzingis embraced the boos when he got drafted, it is what heels do!

WWE Tag Team Championship

This one was easy to add a Knick in as well, with the Fatal 4-Way tag team match for the WWE Tag Team Championship including the Los Matadores (Diego and Fernando), who basically come out with a mascot every night in El Torito.

And as we all know, new starting center Robin Lopez hate mascots. Lopez has taken on most of the mascots in the NBA, this was too perfect!

The only problem is…who would Lopez’s tag-team partner be? Seeing as the Fatal 4-Way contain a bunch of tag teams that are more comedic wrestlers than serious wrestlers, I feel like I need to team-up Lopez with another goofball.

Who is that goofball you say? None other then the newly signed Kevin Seraphin! Seraphin has shown his comedic side before, teaming up with comedian Dwarf Mamba to film some funny Vines.

Okay so with the tag team of Lopez and Seraphin, Team Knicks will just be added onto the already cluster #@*k that will be a Fatal 4-Way tag team match. Why not just make it a 5-Way? Whatever! Add in Team Knicks to vs. The Prime Time Players (Darren Young and Titus O’Neil) vs.  Los Matadores vs. The Lucha Dragons (Kalisto and Sin Cara) vs. The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston and/or Xavier Woods).

Like I said this match is just going to be one big cluster #@*k…but the way I see this match ending is that Lopez is on the verge of pinning a member of Los Matadores, only to be distracted by El Torito. As Lopez loses focus and chases El Torito, Los Matadores do their double-team finishing move; El Picador (Double Reverse Samoan drop) on [insert name] to win the WWE Tag Team Championship. The main takeaway is that Lopez losses out on the chance to win because the mascot distracted him.

Carmelo Anthony

Finally I wanted to put Carmelo Anthony into a match just because he is the face (not babyface, or maybe he is…depends if you are an advocate or a deterrent of Melo) of the Knicks. Anthony is polarizing star, similar to John Cena. LETS GO CENA! CENA SUCKS! Anthony never won an NBA Championship though…so we can not insert him into the Champion vs. Champion match [WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins vs. WWE United States Champion John Cena].

Maybe inserting Anthony to the Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro match would be a better fit. Anthony can sympathize with the two veteran professional wrestlers, who just still did not break through yet to win THE Championship (WWE World Heavyweight Champion).

Although this is just a single match with no stipulations, these are two work horse, who will continue to get more over just by wrestling each other. Insert Anthony, who also is a work horse and still have much to prove without a Championship ring to his name. Anthony needs to just win one Championship, and it will forever shut up any doubters.

This happened for Dirk Nowitzki. with most uneducated fans calling him a soft-Euro who will never win. Until he did win one in 2011 and the narrative completely flipped, now Nowitzki’s name comes up as one of the top international basketball players of All-Time. The same positivity would happen for Anthony if he ever won a Championship.

The way I see this now Triple Threat Match going, is that Owens goes over. After losing to Cena and now feuding with Cesaro, some would say Owens is getting “buried”. In reality there is nothing further from the truth. There was no where else for Owens to go, the options were either to continue feuding with Cena or being vaulted into the Championship match. It would seem a little too early for Owens to be inserted into the Championship picture already, so feuding with a top talent just below Cena is not getting “buried”. Winning in SummerSlam though is a must to continue the momentum he has built, so that is why I would envision Owens winning.

Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker

No Knick need to be inserted here, this will be an incredible match. I can not wait to see how this match turns out and all the fallout that will occur from this outcome. Setting up the stage for maybe a part III in Wrestlemania 32? Maybe Sting interferes to set up an Sting vs. Undertaker match in Wrestlemania 32?
