Kevin Durant in a recent interview with Revolt TV showed a lot of love for Oklahoma City.

"“I love it here, man. I love my teammates, I love the city, I don’t really think about anywhere else,”“I hear it all the time, don’t get me wrong, and once you hear it you’re kind of like [looks up, thinking]. But for me, I love staying in the moment, and I’m one of those guys that would love to stick it out with one team my whole career.” “Kobe [Bryant], Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki type. That’s awesome,” “But you never know what the future holds sometimes and how teams may feel about you after a while, but I love it here and I would love to get my jersey retired here.”"

More from Daily Knicks

Durant in one swoop squashed the dreams of all the free agent destination cities, stating that he would want to be a Kobe, Duncan, Nowitzki, staying in one team. Staying in Oklahoma City and getting his number raised to the rafter one day. Which would be amazing in this day and age, and with just how the economics in the today’s NBA contracts work, to stay on one team would be a major feat. I think we all thought Paul Pierce would have been in that category of players, unfortunately circumstances do not always work out like a Cinderella story.

This recent interview is extremely disappointing (to us delusional Knicks fans of course), but also to probably the biggest threat to Oklahoma City losing Durant, which was the Washington Wizards. There had been many rumors that Washington has already preemptively staging Durant’s return home, hiring Durant’s high school coach as a player development assistant, as per Michael Lee of The Washington Post. When baited with a question speculating his return home to Washington during the Revolt TV interview, Durant responded with this.

"“I love playing for Oklahoma City, man. There’s just a certain level of pride that I have when I play with that Oklahoma City on my chest,”“So that’s the only thing I’m focused on. Everybody knows that I represent where I come from that no matter where I play at, no matter what arena. But I’m just focused on playing with Oklahoma City. It feels like home now. That’s where I am.”"

Durant just had bone graft surgery for the fifth metatarsal of his right foot on Tuesday and is expected to miss the next four to six months. Durant posted on his instagram account easymoneysniper the following after the surgery.

"Not what I envisioned coming into this season. But I’m here and ready to conquer this journey. I’ve heard it all over the last few weeks, but I’m not here to prove anything to anybody, im battling myself. When quit and negativity are staring me in my face, i will stay strong and disciplined. And I won’t do it on my own, my closest and friends and family are here to help and that’s something I will be forever grateful for. I appreciate all the well wishes from all of you guys, I appreciate it. This is just a small obstacle when I look at the big picture. THANKS TO ALL MY NBA BROTHERS THAT REACHED OUT, means a lot to me. Road to recovery. GO THUNDER, I can’t wait to play with my teammates again. LETS DO THIS"

For basketball sake, let’s hope Durant comes back from the injury 100%. Then let’s just see how his potential free agency plays out in the upcoming year.
