Four years have passed since New York Knicks fans thought Kevin Durant would be the face of their franchise. It took a couple of years for fans to realize KD's decision to go to Brooklyn was a blessing in disguise. Durant would never admit it publicly, but he would've been better off signing with the Knicks.

Here we are in 2023. New York picked up a 139-122 win over a team led by KD, and it happened because the Knicks, not the Suns, had the best player on the court. Jalen Brunson finished with a career-high 50 points, shooting lights out from three (9-for-9). In the second half alone, he poured in 35 points and didn't miss a single shot. Read that again.

Brunson had seven less points than Durant and Devin Booker combined. The Knicks point guard proved once again that he's the real deal.

Believe it or not, there are still haters out there who will try to convince you that Brunson is overrated and isn't a top player in the East, let alone the league. Those are opinions you shouldn't trust. Instead, read what KD had to say about Brunson.

Kevin Durant calls Jalen Brunson "Hall of Fame player" after Knicks beat Suns

In case you don't know, Kevin Durant is one of the best players of all time. For him to speak so highly of Jalen Brunson's game is a testament to how hard the guard has worked. Let's not forget he was a second-round pick in 2018. He was never supposed to reach the level he's on, and he's not done elevating his game.

Durant saying that Brunson could one day be a Hall of Famer is wild, not because it isn't true. It isn't often that people speak highly of the Knicks. Over a week ago, Kenny Smith said on NBA on TNT that New York doesn't even have the best player on the floor in a game. He must've forgotten Brunson exists. Smith got a good reminder on Friday.

Brunson shies away from the praise. In ESPN's postgame interview, he said he focuses on his team's success, not individual success. He's everything and more Knicks fans were hoping he'd be. What's the best part? It's still only the beginning.

Kevin Durant, New York fans might not have initially agreed with your choice to go to Brooklyn, but they can agree with your thoughts on Jalen Brunson.
