Fort Collins, Colo., will be the capital of training camp drama this season, and it’ll have nothing to do with the Nuggets. The Sixers will hold camp at Colorado State University from Oct. 3-6.

Not only has James Harden’s trade request not been fulfilled by the Sixers, but his preferred landing spot, the Clippers, reportedly aren’t interested in acquiring the 34-year-old.

Harden’s been surprisingly quiet over the past few weeks, but on Aug. 12, The Athletic’s Sam Amick reiterated that the guard doesn’t plan to attend Philadelphia’s training camp (subscription required). In less than a week, fans will learn if that’s still how he feels.

As much as Philadelphia should want to avoid another Ben Simmons situation, the Harden situation could turn out even worse.

Yes, the Sixers are a hated division rival, but more importantly, Harden’s future will impact Joel Embiid. The reigning MVP is entering his eighth season in Philadelphia and has yet to make it to the Eastern Conference Finals. If Daryl Morey can’t repair the organization’s relationship with Harden, Embiid could be the next player to ask out.
