3. Donte DiVincenzo should make things more interesting

One of the few moves made this offseason by Knicks GM Leon Rose was the signing of Donte DiVincenzo on a four-year, $50 million deal. DiVincenzo is not only a proven backup guard, but he also has championship experience. He also fills two of the Knicks’ biggest needs: three-point shooting and defense.

Last season, DiVincezno averaged 9.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 43.5% from the field and 39.7% from deep on 5.3 attempts. This sort of efficiency from beyond the arc on pretty high volume is exactly what the Knicks needed off the bench. The lack of three-point shooting on this team held New York back last season.

In addition to his offensive prowess and three-point shooting, DiVincenzo is also a solid defender who will fit well off the bench alongside Quickley. The pairing these two will make in the backcourt could be amongst the best in the NBA regarding bench players.

The Knicks already had one of the best benches in the NBA before signing DiVincenzo. Now, with him joining a core that features Quickley, Josh Hart, and Isaiah Hartenstein, there’s no telling what New York could be capable of. Depth may often be overrated, but the Knicks have arguably three starting-level players who will be coming off the bench.
