With the 2023-24 season just a little under two months away, fans are excited to watch the New York Knicks play basketball for the first time since May. While the NBA offseason may not be as long as other sports, it still feels like an eternity.

New York is primed to have a big year, and fans should be hyped, but in case some aren’t, we will remind you of how good the Knicks should be this season.

4 things Knicks fans should be excited about entering the 2023-24 season

4. The continued development of the young core

Last season, fans saw Immanuel Quickley take a giant leap forward, going from an inconsistent bench piece to Sixth Man of The Year runner-up. He also developed into one of the best defensive guards in the NBA, arguably deserving a spot on one of the NBA’s All-Defensive Teams.

Now, entering the new season, fans must be curious about who the next young player will be to break out. Will it be RJ Barrett? Quentin Grimes? Maybe even Miles McBride? While it’s difficult to tell who could be the one to make the leap, fans are still excited to see how these three, and Quickley himself, continue to progress.

The development of these players is critical for the Knicks not only this year but for the team’s future as well. None of these players must become superstars, but they must continue to be contributors for New York if they wish to remain a part of the team’s potential championship window.

Expect another big season out of Quickley and Grimes, as they have established themselves as consistent two-way players who play important roles. As for Barrett, fans can only hope he finally makes the leap to stardom they’ve been waiting four years for. If not, it could be a long season for the 23-year-old.
