Bleacher Report gives fair assessment in Knicks’ 2023-24 record prediction
Now that the full 2023-24 NBA schedule is out, the New York Knicks know the path they’ll have to take to build on their success last season. The Knicks will have a tough challenge out of the gate when they host the Celtics on Opening Night.
New York’s biggest move of the summer came in free agency when Donte DiVincenzo signed a four-year contract. Outside of that, Josh Hart signed a four-year extension, and the Knicks traded Obi Toppin to the Pacers in exchange for two second-round picks.
Because New York has had a relatively quiet offseason, the belief is that the Knicks will have a similar record in 2023-24 to how they finished in 2022-23. That wouldn’t be a bad outcome for the team because it’d mean New York would be back in the playoffs.
The Eastern Conference will be as challenging as last season, if not more so. If there’s one thing the Knicks proved last season, though, they’re up to the challenge.
In a win-lose record prediction piece for all 30 NBA teams, Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey actually gave New York a fair assessment. Bleacher Report is not often fair when it comes to the Knicks, but Bailey’s 2023-24 prediction for New York makes sense.
Bleacher Report predicts Knicks will go 48-34 in 2023-24 regular season
New York finished the 2022-23 regular season with a 47-35 record, so Bailey predicts the team will finish with one more win in 2023-24. Bleacher Report has the Knicks finishing with the same record as the Cavaliers, Grizzlies, Lakers, and Mavericks. That isn’t a bad group for New York to be part of.
Bailey wrote that for the Knicks to get 50 or more wins, RJ Barrett will need to “take a leap forward with his shotmaking.” The good news is Barrett has shined with Canada this summer, a hopeful indication of how his fifth season in the NBA will go.
ESPN’s Bobby Marks has exceptionally high hopes for New York, the team he believes will represent the East in the NBA Finals. If the Knicks manage to get at or below 50 wins and make their deepest playoff run since 1999, New York would have a nearly perfect season.
