Answering 5 burning questions about Knicks’ 2023-24 Schedule

How many games do the Knicks play against title contenders?

What qualifies a team to be a championship contender varies depending on who you ask. For the sake of this list, I will highlight the exclusive number of NBA teams that are legitimate title contenders this year.

These games are important because how successful the Knicks are against these teams will help show how great New York is. There are 20 games in which the Knicks will play contenders. Here they are divided by each opponent:

Boston Celtics: October 25, 2023; November 13, 2023; February 24, 2024; April 11, 2024

This includes game 1 of 82 for New York, which will be at Madison Square Garden. It is the second time these division rivals have played each other on opening night in the last three seasons.

Milwaukee Bucks: November 3, 2023; December 23, 2023; December 25, 2023

Milwaukee will spend plenty of “Christmas time in the city” this year. Not only will the Bucks be in New York City for Christmas Day, but they will also face off against the Knicks two nights earlier.

Miami Heat: November 24, 2023; January 27, 2024; April 2, 2024

New York has three games against the team that knocked them out of the 2023 playoffs. The Knicks will look to get their revenge in their 15th game of the season, but they will also be looking to win this game as it is a part of their In-Season Tournament schedule.

LA Lakers: December 18, 2023; February 3, 2024

LA Clippers: November 6, 2023; December 16, 2023

The battles between the NBA’s two largest markets are always intriguing. Will superstars LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Paul George, and Kawhi Leonard be available for these contests? Only time will tell.

Phoenix Suns: November 26, 2023; December 15, 2023

The new look Big Three Suns (Big Four? DeAndre Ayton is a confusing topic) will see the Knicks twice in just under three weeks. Can the Knicks’ gritty defense defeat the Sun’s elite scoring talent?

Denver Nuggets: January 25, 2024; March 21, 2024

The Knicks went into Denver last season and won for the first time in 16 years. They’ll look to grab some more dubs against the NBA’s defending champs, but their chance won’t come until 2024.

Golden State Warriors: February 29, 2024; March 18, 2024

Speaking of dubs, the Warriors will also go up against New York this season exclusively in 2024. That gives them plenty of time to try to gel with their newly acquired former All-Star, Chris Paul.
