It was a prime opportunity for Donovan Mitchell to show New York’s front office that they should’ve cashed in their chips for him, but the result was the opposite of what Cleveland fans were expecting.

The Cavaliers won only one game as the Knicks went on to a 4-1 series win. After being ridiculed for months about not going all-in on Mitchell, New York got the last laugh. However, that doesn’t mean that the Mitchell trade talk has ended, which is another reason why an opening night game between New York and Cleveland would be perfect.

Mitchell is eligible to sign an extension this offseason, which isn’t something that he’ll probably do. If that’s the case, he’ll be hounded with questions about his future with the Cavaliers at the start of the season.
