4. Cleveland Cavaliers

In what would be a rematch of their first-round series in the NBA Playoffs, I believe there’s a very good chance that the New York Knicks could draw the Cleveland Cavaliers in their potential Christmas Day game. The Cavs would be seeking to earn some respect back after looking completely outclassed in their playoff series against the Knicks and the star power of Donovan Mitchell and Cleveland’s young budding stars would certainly call for the spotlight on one of the NBA’s biggest regular season days.

Let’s not forget that there are also some off-the-court storylines that would certainly add to the intrigue of the matchup – most of which include Mitchell and the whispers that continue to link him to New York. Mitchell in Madison Square Garden on Christmas Day; tell me that’s not something that NBA fans everywhere would want to see.

In a vacuum, a potential matchup between the Knicks and Cavs makes a ton of sense (and checks a lot of boxes) as a possible Christmas Day game. There is a very tangible and recent history between these two teams. That said, there are a few other more intriguing matchups for the Knicks on Christmas Day.
