DeMar DeRozan, Chicago Bulls

Another backcourt option that could emerge as a potential trade target this season that warrants some monitoring for the New York Knicks is DeMar DeRozan. Entering the final year of his contract with the Chicago Bulls, with how much uncertainty that revolves around their situation, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if there was a fire sale in Chicago that featured DeRozan. If the Bulls do end up pivoting at some point this season, DeRozan is probably the first to go considering his expiring contract and his value on the open market.

DeRozan would be an interesting potential fit in New York. He’s one of the better (and most underrated) scorers in the league. He may not be the 3-point shooter that many other shooting guards are in this era but he has arguably the best mid-range game in the league right now.

If the Knicks are looking for an established offensive star, DeRozan could be a fit. He’d immediately help take some of the offensive pressure off Jalen Brunson, RJ Barrett, and Julius Randle. Though, you’d have to wonder about the team’s defensive pressure in the backcourt with Brunson and DeRozan as starters.
