Paul George LA Clippers

A few weeks ago, it was reported that the New York Knicks inquired about the possibility of acquiring Paul George (who is entering the final year of his contract) via trade. In the end, it was something that didn’t come to fruition. The asking price from the LA Clippers was too high and the Knicks weren’t willing or prepared to meet LA’s asking price while also giving PG a huge contract extension. While it may not have worked in early July, that doesn’t mean both sides can’t circle back to each other closer to the NBA Trade Deadline.

You can make a strong case that George could be considered a final piece fit for the Knicks. He fills a lot of their needs when it comes to a two-way wing while also being a legit No. 1 scoring threat. If you add him to this roster without gutting their depth all that much, the Knicks are probably a championship contender in the East.

As it did a few weeks ago, this possibility likely comes down to LA’s asking price and whether New York wants to give PG an extension. Maybe the Knicks only need one of those things to change.

And if the Clippers struggle to start the season, these whispers are only going to grow louder.
