Pascal Siakam, Toronto Raptors

Circling back to the Toronto Raptors, Pascal Siakam is the other one of their veteran stars that could be available at the NBA Trade Deadline. The word around the league was that the Raptors were looking to trade him before the season. However, with the lack of a true market (for a myriad of reasons), the expectation is that he will at least begin the season on Toronto’s roster. But things could change quickly in the NBA, especially with the right offer.

As an expiring contract that the Raptors have shown hesitancy to re-sign, there’s a very good chance Siakam gets moved at the deadline. For Siakam to make sense for the Knicks, three questions would have to be answered.

One, do the Knicks feel as if Siakam would be somewhat of a missing piece toward their path to contention in the Eastern Conference?

Two, would the Knicks appeal to Siakam long-term? If New York trades for him, it would almost be under the certainty that he’s going to sign an extension.

And three, are the Knicks going to be willing to meet the high asking price that the Raptors will likely have for Siakam?

None of those are guarantees, but he’s certainly a name for the Knicks to monitor heading into the trade deadline.
