Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota Timberwolves

Over the last couple of seasons, there might not be a star player’s stock that has dropped the most around the league than Karl-Anthony Towns. Once believed to be one of the most talented big men in the NBA, KAT has somewhat become an afterthought when discussing the best star frontcourt players. Part of that could fairly be attributed to his inconsistent play of late, along with the massive contract that he signed last offseason.

With the Minnesota Timberwolves looking to build around Anthony Edwards as their primary star, there is some belief that KAT could be available for the right price in the trade market. The question for a team like the Knicks is whether or not KAT would be worth making such an offer for.

In a vacuum, you almost definitely want a big with the skill set that KAT possesses. He’s a three-level scorer and while he’s struggled on the defensive end of the floor, he does have the athleticism and capability to grow into a better defender than he’s shown in Minnesota.

Do the Knicks believe they can salvage KAT’s career at this point? Do they believe they can get the most out of him, unlike what the Wolves have been able to do through the first few years of his career? If things continue to trend as they are for the Wolves, KAT could very much be available at the trade deadline.
