Zach LaVine, Chicago Bulls

There’s a growing (quiet) belief that Zach LaVine is going to be the next star to hit the trade block after Damian Lillard and James Harden. When you think about it, it does make sense. The Chicago Bulls are in a spot as a franchise where they are probably better off hitting the reset button. Lonzo Ball may not play again for the Bulls due to injury and DeMar DeRozan is entering the final year of his contract with the team and is unlikely to re-sign after this season.

That leaves LaVine in an interesting spot. He’s a really good player but likely not a true No. 1 in the league. If the Bulls are going to hit the reset button, he’s probably not a player they should be building around. They tried it and it didn’t work. Moving him to gain as many assets as possible to jumpstart their rebuild seems like the most likely scenario playing out.

The NBA Trade Deadline through next offseason seems like a natural trade window for LaVine. If the Knicks believe they’re a two-way guard (that is a borderline star) away from contending in the East, making a move for LaVine at the trade deadline would make plenty of sense.
