The Knicks announced that they had signed Isaiah Roby to a two-year deal on the morning of the last day of the regular season. The 25-year-old received a guaranteed $400,000 from New York to end 2022-23, although he wasn’t eligible to play a postseason game. He has a non-guaranteed salary of $2 million for 2023-24.

Roby played for the Knicks at Summer League after being released to play two weeks before after dealing with a significant ankle injury. All eyes were on him after HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reported that Roby was expected to fill New York’s backup power forward role following the Obi Toppin trade.

The forward played in four games at Summer League, the best one being against the Celtics. Roby scored 17 points (6-of-9) and added five rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block. However, he didn’t do much to show that he can receive minutes at the four when Julius Randle is out of the game.

The Knicks signed forward Nathan Knight to a two-way contract last week, and he could be a better option for New York than Roby. Like DaQuan Jeffries, the Knicks will have until early January to decide on Isaiah Roby’s future but don’t be surprised if his time in New York lasts less than a year.
