1. PG Russell Westbrook

He may have shown that he still has it after his run with the Clippers. However, there’s not a single reason for the Knicks to bring Russell Westbrook in despite some sources naming New York as having the highest odds to sign the 34-year-old.

Normally, adding a nine-time All-Star and former MVP would be a dream come true. Unfortunately, Westbrook’s best days are behind him and he simply doesn’t provide anything the Knicks need. He may fit well next to Immanuel Quickley off the bench, but it’s just not worth moving Quickley back to shooting guard for a non-shooting point guard.

Westbrook is still a fine player. In fact, his run with the Clippers showed that he’s still got a little bit of star power left in the tank. Despite this, his complete inability to shoot alongside his lack of defense just makes him a poor fit with what the Knicks are trying to accomplish this upcoming season. His playstyle may fit, but the things he can’t do would cripple New York on both sides of the ball at times.

We wish nothing but the best for Westbrook. He’ll earn himself a nice contract for a contending team. It would be nice to see him play for New York, but at this point in his career, signing him doesn’t make sense for either side.
