2018 NBA Draft: SF Kevin Knox, D

After drafting one of the biggest busts in franchise history, the Knicks made yet another disastrous draft selection in the following season. This time, the team opted to take Kentucky forward Kevin Knox. While he’d have a somewhat solid rookie season, Knox has done little to nothing since and could be on his way out of the league.

During his three-and-a-half seasons with the Knicks, Knox averaged 8.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game while shooting 36.9% from the field and 34.6% from beyond the arc on 3.5 attempts. His time in New York was wildly inconsistent. Knox was incredibly hot and cold.

Knox wasn’t great during his rookie season. However, he showed some promise. Despite this, his minutes were cut down by nearly 10 and would only decrease from there. Knox was never going to be a star, but it’s unfortunate that he was never given another chance following his first year.

Now, following some impressive games to end the season, Knox has a team option for 2023-24. If the Blazers decline it, hopefully, a team will give him a chance. It seems like he’s proven that he can be a solid rotational player for any team.
