10. Knicks’ 2024 first-round pick

The Knicks traded their 2023 first-round pick to the Portland Trail Blazers to acquire Josh Hart, so New York will be without one this year. They missed out on the Mavericks’ first-round pick as well.

The Knicks have all of their other first-round picks in their cupboard. Teams value those picks highly given the Knicks’ track record under James Dolan, but New York should be back in the playoffs in 2024.

Josh Hart can become a free agent this summer, but the Knicks would have his Bird rights. Derrick Rose will also hit the open market if the Knicks decline his option.

The Knicks can virtually run it back with a team that finished fifth in the Eastern Conference, and they are loaded with assets to improve their roster. The franchise should improve in the short term and they are well-positioned moving forward.

Teams value first-round draft picks, especially unprotected ones, so the New York Knicks could still move this selection for a rotation piece or in a package for a star with zero trouble. It will be one of the many important decisions the front office must make in the months ahead.
