If the Bulls are smart, they will understand their ceiling as a team and begin to re-tool and rebuild their roster. Under this circumstance, the Knicks should try their best to acquire Alex Caruso, who made the All-NBA Defensive First Team this season.

Acquiring Caruso likely wouldn’t be cheap, but adding this sort of player to play next to Quickley off the bench would create one of the best defensive backcourt duos in the entire league. In addition to his defense, Caruso is rounding out a solid offensive game that makes it easy to play him at any time throughout the game.

This season, Caruso averaged 5.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game while shooting 45.5% from the field and 36.4% from deep on 2.3 attempts. These offensive numbers won’t blow anyone away, but him being as solid as he is on that end is just icing on the cake.

Having two guards with All-Defensive talent off the bench would be insanely fun to watch. The hustle and effort Caruso would bring to New York would fit incredibly well with the culture this team is starting to build. Trading for him may not be easy, but Rose should undoubtedly target Caruso if he’s made available.
