New York Knicks fans won’t have to wait until the start of the 2023-24 NBA season to get to see Jalen Brunson in action again. Brunson has committed to rep Team USA at the FIBA World Cup in the Philippines this summer. Games will begin on Aug. 25 and will end on Sept. 10.

Brunson’s commitment to FIBA was reported simultaneously as Nets’ Mikal Bridges’ commitment. The Villanova duo will take the court together on the same team for the first time since their Wildcat days.

Other players that have announced their commitment are Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, Austin Reaves, and Bobby Portis. The team will be coached by Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.

In other news, over a month after being eliminated by the Knicks in the playoffs, Cavaliers All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell appeared on Theo Pinson’s podcast, ‘Run Your Race.’ Mitchell spoke about what it was like to play at Madison Square Garden in the postseason, and it led many to believe that he still has the desire to be a Knick. However, it’s nothing new for non-Knicks players to rave about playing at MSG.

Since being traded to Cleveland last offseason, Mitchell has said that he thought that he was going to be dealt to New York. He had a stellar first season with the Cavaliers in which he averaged a career-high 28.3 points and was named an All-Star starter and received All-NBA Second Team honors. The 26-year-old has a player option for the 2025-26 season that he could opt out of to become a free agent.
