Knicks trade fringe help: Isaiah Joe

Maybe rookies aren’t your thing, and you’d rather add some more seasoned help to this Knicks squad. Might I suggest you do some research on a trade for Thunder combo guard Isaiah Joe?

Joe would bring immediate floor spacing to the Knicks. Per Cleaning the Glass, the third-year player out of Arkansas was in the 87th percentile for three-point shooting. He was also in the 96th percentile for effective field goal percentage and the 84th percentile for two-point shooting.

More importantly than all of that, though, is that 95% of Joe’s three-point makes were assisted. Those are sniper numbers. Joe does not need to dominate the ball to put up points quickly. That is exactly the kind of player the Knicks need.

And while Joe will never be confused for Tony Allen, he holds his own defensively. Plus, what he contributes offensively makes him ultimately a net positive. Joe had a positive BPM and VORP last season with the Thunder.

The true kicker: Joe is making just $1.9 million next season on a non-guaranteed deal. That salary matches pretty nicely with that of both Deuce McBride and Jericho Sims. One of those players, plus a second-round pick or two as a sweetener, could make Joe a Knick.
