New York Knicks that should be cut loose: Julius Randle

This may be a polarizing opinion, but there is reason to believe that heading into the offseason the New York Knicks should cut loose from Julius Randle, or at least be open to the idea of doing so. During the regular season, Randle had a great bounce-back campaign. He averaged 25 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists on 46% shooting from the field and 34% shooting from three-point range en route to an All-Star appearance.

But for as good as Randle was in the regular season, his production took a dive in the playoffs. While you can make the argument that he was playing through injury, which is fair, this is also the second postseason run where Randle has left much to be desired.

During the playoffs, Randle’s averages dropped to just 16 points and eight rebounds on 37% shooting from the field and 26% shooting from three-point range. When the team needed him most, Randle was anything but the calming force that he was during the regular season.

As the Knicks continue to try to improve the roster this offseason, Randle should be a player that the team should explore moving on from.
