Thrived: Bobby Portis

Bobby Portis and the Bucks were embarrassingly eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by Jimmy Butler at the Heat, but that shouldn’t take away from the season that the forward had. Like Immanuel Quickley, Portis was a finalist for the Sixth Man of the Year after averaging 14.1 points and 9.6 rebounds in 70 games.

Portis spent only one season in New York, 2019-20, and after that season, the Knicks declined his $15.8 million team option with the hopes of offering him a new contract. However, Portis was in search of a “winning culture” and instead signed a two-year deal with Milwaukee. Even New York fans can’t deny the fact that was a good move for him.

Portis re-signed with the Bucks last offseason to a four-year, $49 million deal. The first year of his new contract couldn’t have gone much better, minus the fact that Milwaukee was an early exit. His individual performance was great and given that he’s only 28, he still has a lot left to give the Bucks.
