MVP: Julius Randle

Now, Brunson may be the best player on the Knicks this season but Julius Randle being with the Knicks the last three seasons through thick and thin while also giving New York his second All-NBA level season in three years helps give him the edge.

Randle averaged 25.1 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 4.1 assists in 77 regular season games while shooting 45.9% from the field and 34.3% from three on 8.3 attempts. While Randle may not have the consistency of Brunson, his explosions for 40+ points and incredibly clutch moments this season more than make up for it.

For better or for worse, Randle has been the Knicks’ rock over the last three seasons and the way his career has progressed since signing with New York has been incredible to watch. Randle has brought a new light to New York basketball and it has all culminated this season into him deserving the team MVP.

Things will be even better for Randle if he follows this season up with an all-around solid postseason performance to prove his doubters wrong. This would do wonders for his confidence and long-term career in New York.

Regardless, while you can make the argument for Brunson and we wouldn’t argue, there is no doubt that Randle is deserving of the award this season for how he has pulled it all together and brought the Knicks to their second postseason appearance in three seasons.
