Defensive Player of the Year: Immanuel Quickley

While in almost every prior season the clear choice for DPOY on the Knicks would be Mitchell Robinson, it seems as if we finally have a change for the award. Not only has Quickley been the best defender on the Knicks this season, but is potentially deserving of an All-Defensive Team spot.

Quickley went from being a below-average defensive player to one of the best in the league and we couldn’t be happier for him. The way he has utilized his massive wing span for his size, defensive IQ, and overall agility has helped elevate him to a whole different level.

The jump Quickley’s made defensively has had a massive effect on the Knicks’ success this season and has helped mold him into a budding star. This defensive jump is something we previously evaluated at a much deeper level and can be found here.

Hopefully, he continues this defensive prowess as his career goes on as it has added immense value to not only his play on the floor but potential contract extension which could now be in the range of $20+ million.
