New York Knicks fans are preoccupied with the team’s upcoming first-round playoff series against the Cavaliers, and rightfully so. After a hopeful 2020-21 season that ended with the Knicks securing the No. 4 seed in the East, a disappointing playoff series against the Hawks led to a poor 2021-22 where New York finished the season out of play-in range.

The 2022-23 season has already been a success for the Knicks, regardless of how they perform in the playoffs against the Hawks. Along with being back in the postseason, there are a couple of New York players that are in the running to win an NBA Award.

Immanuel Quickley is one of the frontrunners to win the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award and Jalen Brunson is in the race to win the NBA Most Improved Player Award.

Jalen Brunson, Utah’s Lauri Markkanen, Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Brooklyn’s Mikal Bridges are all in the running to win Most Improved Player.

Who is the favorite to win NBA MVP?

Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid, Denver’s Nikola Jokic, and Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo are the frontrunners to win NBA MVP. Jokic won the award the past two seasons. Embiid is at the top of the Kia MVP Ladder.

When is the 2022-23 NBA Awards show?

There isn’t an awards show for 2022-23. Instead, awards will be periodically announced throughout the NBA Playoffs.
