The New York Knicks gave up a 2023 first-round pick for Josh Hart, but the energy that he’s brought to the team can’t be understated. The former Trail Blazer has been a perfect addition to New York’s second unit, averaging 10.2 points and 7.0 rebounds in his 25 regular season games with the Knicks.

Hart will continue to play a key role during the playoffs, especially with New York’s bench having the clear advantage over Cleveland. From his ability to score to his impact on the boards, Hart’s presence will hopefully help push New York past Cleveland in the first round series.

Although Hart was drafted in 2017 and he’s on his fourth team since then, the 28-year-old has never played in the playoffs. He’ll be making his postseason debut on Saturday, which may be part of the reason why he’s so excited for Game 1.

Josh Hart’s “extremely excited” to make Knicks playoff debut on Saturday against Cavaliers

Josh Hart has been vocal about his desire to remain in New York past this season. He has a player option for 2023-24 that he’s expected to decline in favor of a larger contract, but don’t expect Leon Rose and Co. to let the guard sign elsewhere. After being traded the previous two deadlines, Hart wants to make New York his home.

When asked if he’s excited about the playoffs, he mentioned several times that he’s excited. He spoke highly of the organization as a whole and said that the team is focused on the upcoming series about the Cavaliers. Hart isn’t looking for playoff advice, either. He’s ready to get to experience it himself.

Just months ago, Hart was on a Portland team that winded up No. 13 in the West with a 33-49 record. He’s only been a Knick for two months, but it’s evident that he was meant to be in New York. It certainly helps that he played with Jalen Brunson at Villanova and has the chemistry there. He’s been a seamless fit on the Knicks.

Like Josh Hart, Knicks fans are counting down the days until Game 1 tips off on Saturday at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Three more days.
