Immanuel Quickley’s price has gone up, and it’s only getting higher. The 23-year-old will be extension eligible during the offseason. Jake Fischer said that he doesn’t think that IQ will sign an extension during the summer, though. He said that he would be “surprised” if the two sides agreed to a number, but that doesn’t mean that an extension won’t happen.

The good news regarding IQ’s situation with the Knicks is that the new CBA allows non-max players to sign an extension of up to five years. Under the old CBA, that was only allowed for players who were signing max extensions. It wouldn’t be surprising at all if Quickley were to sign a long-term, five-year extension this summer. From the fans’ perspective, the longer commitment, the better when it comes to IQ.

The new CBA incentivizes teams that build through the draft, and luckily, the Knicks have drastically improved in that area in recent years. Quickley is an example of that. Assuming that Hart will opt out of his player option, he and IQ should be at the top of New York’s offseason list.
