Jaylen Brown is set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2024, but given his recent comments in a profile by The Ringer, it wouldn’t be that big of a shock if he requested a trade before then. It’d be risky for a team to trade for him with his looming free agency, but he’d still have multiple suitors.

The 26-year-old was named an All-Star for the second time earlier this season and is averaging a career-high 26.7 points as well as a career-high 6.9 rebounds. He’s shooting 49.2% from the floor, which is another career-high for him. He’s been instrumental to the Celtics’ success in recent seasons, but it seems as if Boston is at risk of losing him whether it be this summer or the next.

The Celtics were the top team in the East for the majority of the season but were recently replaced by the Bucks. Boston has been on a bit of a decline in recent weeks, but the Celtics could make it back to the NBA Finals for the second straight year. If that happens, that would likely help Boston’s case to keep Brown from wanting to go elsewhere.

But if Brown wants out of Boston before his contract comes to an end, New York will automatically emerge as a landing spot. It would be interesting to see how the Knicks’ rotation would change with a player like Brown, but he has too much talent for the front office to pass up.
