3 Teams Knicks could trade Obi Toppin to during offseason
1. Indiana Pacers
It was heavily rumored that the Pacers were interested in trading for Toppin prior to the trade deadline this season, so it makes sense that they could potentially be interested in him again this offseason.
More likely than not, the Knicks would be packaging Toppin alongside another player and looking for a player like Buddy Hield or Myles Turner. Either of these players would make a pretty big difference for the Knicks on either side of the ball and are definitely guys they should pursue.
If you thought a Ball and Toppin pick and roll would be incredible, I can only imagine how great this would look with Tyrese Haliburton and Toppin. Not only would this be a near-perfect fit, but Haliburton’s playmaking would likely help Toppin become a much better shooter than he currently is.
Throwing Toppin into a well-spaced system that will help him achieve his potential as a finisher would do wonders for his career. The Knicks have not really provided him with either of these throughout his career thus far, but the Pacers would if they trade for him.
Playing in a system that doesn’t relegate Topping to being a catch-and-shoot big man will drastically improve his chances of being the star player he was meant to be. Considering this almost definitely won’t happen in New York, throwing Toppin in the mix of any of these teams could make a drastic difference for both Toppin and the team that opts to trade for him.
