Following the Grizzlies’ win over the Golden State Warriors last Thursday, role player Dillon Brooks made a particularly lame comment toward Knicks legend Carmelo Anthony and future Hall of Famer Dwight Howard.
Dillon Brooks says the Grizzlies locker room doesn’t need vets like Carmelo Anthony or Dwight Howard

“Those guys are trying get back into the league. They're not trying to hone in on a guy and be a vet. A real vet is like Udonis Haslem.” pic.twitter.com/aSUsZV97gK
Why a player of Brooks’ caliber and stature would take a shot at two players who have essentially always been better than him is certainly an interesting question. Regardless of whether or not Brooks is right, it is incredibly disrespectful for a player like him to talk about these two in such a manner.
However, not even a full day after the said comment was made, Anthony responded via Instagram and made Brooks look even more like a loser than he normally does.
Carmelo Anthony responds to incredibly lame shot taken by Dillon Brooks
Melo wasted no time in responding to the comment made by Brooks, replying to the NBA Buzz Instagram page saying the following:

“Please keep me out of it RESPECTFULLY.”

The fact that Brooks, one of the most inefficient, dirtiest players in the league, had the audacity to say something so disrespectful to players like Anthony and Howard shines a brighter light on the type of person he is.
Normally, I’d be quite the fan of a scrappy defensive player who occasionally talks some trash, but the way Brooks carries himself combined with his incredibly dirty moments of play makes him one of the easiest players to hate in the league.
Regardless of whether or not you believe Melo should be in the league, there was not a single reason for Brooks to take this type of shot toward him. I could go on and on about how Brooks has never and will never sniff anything close to what Anthony was in his prime, but that would just be a waste of time.
It was nice to see Melo take a bit of a high road in this situation. He very easily could have said something incredibly disrespectful to Brooks, which would have been deserving, but he instead opted to let the world know that he doesn’t wish to be involved in such drama.
The way Brooks has acted this season has made it incredibly easy to root against both him and the Grizzlies. So it’ll be very funny to see what he has to say when Memphis fails to make it past the first or second round just like every other year.
