After being one of the NBA’s hottest teams winning nine games in a row, the New York Knicks have dropped three straight. The Knicks will look to break that streak on Sunday in Los Angeles against the Lakers, but New York is on the second half of a back-to-back while LA had Saturday off.

To avoid losing four straight, the Knicks will need Jalen Brunson. The point guard missed the loss to the Hornets before returning to play in only the first half of the loss to the Kings. He was out for Saturday’s loss to the Clippers. He’s been dealing with left foot soreness. The good news is that Tom Thibodeau said ahead of Saturday’s game that Brunson underwent X-rays that came back negative. Thibodeau added that Brunson is doing “a little better.”

Given that the playoffs start next month, the Knicks need Brunson to be at his best. Hopefully, Julius Randle will be able to figure things out against the team that drafted him.
