Knicks News: New York hottest team in NBA, 10-day contract roster move
Although there were many, many people doubting the New York Knicks ahead of the 2022-23 season, the team is now the hottest in the league. The Knicks are on a nine-game winning streak that has included two wins over the Celtics and a tough road win over the Heat in the past week.
Because of that, New York sits atop CBS Sports’ NBA Power Rankings. The Knicks stole the No. 1 spot from the Bucks, whose 16-game winning streak was snapped by the Sixers on Saturday.
"Say what you will about the New York Knicks, but it’s hard not to root for them with the way they’ve been playing lately. Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle and, suddenly, Immanuel Quickley have the Knicks in the midst of a nine-game winning streak — the best in the league and enough to catapult them to the No. 1 spot in this week’s Power Rankings."
New York is the No. 5 team in the East with a 39-27 record, two games ahead of Brooklyn.
The Knicks signed 2022 second-round pick Trevor Keels to a 10-day contract a couple of weeks ago. Now that his 10-day is up, New York signed DaQuan Jeffries to a 10-day contract on Sunday. The 25-year-old is averaging 20.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 20 games for the Westchester Knicks.
Keels got some playing time in the Knicks’ rout over the Nets on Mar. 1 and he scored his first points in the NBA. Jeffries has played in games for the Kings, Rockets, and Grizzlies but has yet to play in a game with the Knicks.
