It didn’t take long for Josh Hart to become a fan favorite after the New York Knicks traded for him last Wednesday. The 27-year-old said that he is looking for a home and that he thinks NYC ‘could be it’ but that all depends on what will happen during the offseason.

The 27-year-old has a $12.9 million player option for 2023-24 that he could decline to enter free agency. Here’s what Hart’s former teammate Damian Lillard had to say:

"“Josh is a really good player so you have to know that he has an option, and he’s probably going to opt out of the deal that he has now,” Damian Lillard said, “and you have to assume he’s going to be wanted in the open market.“And there’s a chance you lose a player like that if you’re not going to match that number.”"

The Knicks wouldn’t have traded for Hart if he wasn’t in their future plans, so if he does decline his player option, expect him to sign a deal with New York.

Mitchell Robinson hasn’t played since he fractured his thumb against Washington on Jan. 18. He underwent surgery the next day and has been sidelined since. SNY’s Ian Begley reported on Wednesday that Robinson was “making progress” but hadn’t been cleared for contact yet.
