After the New York Knicks social team included RJ Barrett in the starting five graphic for Sunday night’s nationally televised game against the Sixers, he was a late scratch due to a non-COVID illness. Because of the timing of it, though, fans started to speculate about whether Barrett was going to be traded or not with the deadline being only days away.

SNY’s Ian Begley reported that Barrett “hadn’t felt well for most of the day” and that before introductions, “the illness returned and he left the floor.” New York went on to upset Philadelphia, 108-97, after being down by as many as 20 points in the first half.

The Knicks are in Orlando to take on the Magic Tuesday night. Here’s what you need to know about Barrett’s status leading up to the game.

RJ Barrett is listed as questionable for New York’s game against Orlando because of his non-COVID illness.

RJ Barrett has played in 48 of New York’s 55 games this season. He missed two weeks with a lacerated finger that he suffered against Dallas at home on Dec. 27.

When is RJ Barrett coming back?

If RJ Barrett doesn’t play on Tuesday against the Magic, but if he doesn’t play, he should be available for Friday’s game against the Sixers. That game will be in Philadelphia at Wells Fargo Center.

After Tuesday’s game in Orlando, the Knicks will travel to Philadelphia before having a two-game homestand. Following that, New York will go on the road for one game before the All-Star break. New York’s first game after the break will be on Feb. 24 in DC.
