Funniest memes and tweets from Knicks’ Julius Randle’s reaction to Jaylen Brown choke
Thursday night was nothing new for New York Knicks fans, except for the fact that the team wasn’t on the losing end after blowing a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter. Thanks to Julius Randle’s 37 points and his clutch plays down the stretch as well as a huge RJ Barrett three-pointer to take the lead in overtime, the Knicks were able to secure the 120-117 win, their biggest of the season.
Jaylen Brown had the chance to give the Celtics a one-point lead with 7.1 seconds left in overtime when he went to the line for two free throws, but in a rare streak of luck for the Knicks, Brown choked and missed both. Barrett then went on to hit two free throws with 5.1 seconds remaining to push New York’s lead to three.
The cherry on top of Brown missing the two crucial free throws was what happened afterward. Randle looked over at Brown and flashed a big smile as he laughed, maybe it was relief or maybe it was Randle simply being happy as he knew at that point the Knicks were going to go on to win.
Regardless, it was a classic moment.
Knicks’ Julius Randle grins at Jaylen Brown after he misses crucial free throws
Let’s take a look at the best memes and tweets that were a result of Jaylen Brown failing to show up in the clutch.
Just like the moment shared between Luka Doncic and Devin Booker, Julius Randle laughing at Jaylen Brown will go down in the history of NBA memes.
Okay, but why is hearing Tom Thibodeau laugh kind of creepy? This was still a great reaction, though.
Let’s check in on Celtics fans:
Yes, the Knicks are the seventh seed. Great research on pointing that one out. Why weren’t the Celtics able to knock off the seventh seed, then?
Hey, never say never. Not many people thought that the Knicks would be in the position that they are now after not trading for Donovan Mitchell over the summer. New York is only half a game behind Miami, who sits at No. 6 in the East. It wouldn’t be shocking to see the Knicks finish No. 5 or No. 6 in the standings to secure a spot in the postseason.
Boston still has the best record in the league after last night’s loss, but it sure was nice to see the Knicks leave TD Garden with a win.
