Knicks News: Donovan Mitchell’s Jalen Brunson tweet, Chris Duarte trade rumors
After losing a 17-point lead to the Bucks on Monday, the New York Knicks rebounded with a 119-113 win over the Pacers on Wednesday. Jalen Brunson’s hot streak continued as he finished with a game-high 34 points (11-of-20).
There was one player in particular that has been paying attention to how Brunson’s been playing and in the first half of the win over Indiana, that player tweeted about the Knicks’ point guard.
Of course, it was thought over the summer that Donovan Mitchell would be teaming up with Brunson in New York. Mitchell will be an unrestricted free agent in 2025 and Knicks fans made sure to remind him that Brunson’s contract goes through the 2025-26 season (a player option).
The front office has been ridiculed for not bringing a star to New York by going all-in on Mitchell, but truthfully, Brunson has been playing like a star and it’s nice to see other people recognize that.
In trade news, the Pacers have reportedly made guard Chris Duarte available ahead of the Feb. 9 trade deadline. Duarte is a player that the Knicks were interested in leading up to the 2021 draft and given that New York has reportedly engaged in trade talks with Indiana about Obi Toppin, Duarte is another target that Knicks fans need to add to their lists.
