If either the Knicks or Mavericks begin to slip down in the standings and rise up the draft order, there is a very real chance that Gradey Dick would be available. Not only is Dick arguably the best shooter in the draft, but his all-around offensive prowess makes him a must-draft prospect if he falls to the Knicks.

Before we get into Dick’s offense, I should probably mention his defense, which is rather poor and will more than likely be an issue during his NBA career. However, his size does help him out at times and it’s not like whatever team that drafts him won’t find a way to mask his defensive woes.

Anyways, let’s talk about Dick’s offense, which is truly something amazing to watch. Through 12 games, Dick is averaging 15.4 points while shooting 48.5% from the field and an incredible 48.6% from behind the arc on 5.8 attempts per game.

Most of Dick’s shots come off of spot-up/catch-and-shoot threes where he shoots 45.7% and in addition to this, he works great off of dribble handoffs, off-ball screens, etc. in a very similar fashion to that of Jett Howard.

Dick’s high arc and low dip release make it almost impossible for defenders to contest him when he shoots the ball. It doesn’t matter the way in which he is shooting the ball, off the catch, dribble, from way beyond the arc, or off the pull-up, Dick is going to hit the shot.

In addition to Dick’s unbelievable shooting prowess, he is also elite at getting to the rim and finishing, shooting 62.5% when attacking the basket. A lot of these layups come from off-ball movement through cuts, which is something the Knicks need, as they don’t have many players that work well in the off-ball.

Even when attacking the rim with the ball in hand, Dick is extremely successful. The way he can adjust his body in the air to get the perfect angle is truly ridiculous and something that every shooter needs.

Dick isn’t the most eye-popping passer, however, he has moments where he shines in that area, especially in transition. Honestly, Dick’s ability in transition may be his best asset, and considering the Knicks want to improve their pace, it seems like Dick would be the perfect fit for this team.
