It wasn’t easy, but the New York Knicks pushed their win streak to five with a 128-120 overtime W over the Bulls on Wednesday night. New York now has a 15-13 record and is one game back from the No. 5 Philadelphia Sixers in the East.
Julius Randle continued his hot streak with 31 points (8-of-19) to go along with 13 rebounds and seven assists. He’s scored 30+ points in four of the Knicks’ last eight games. Jalen Brunson was right behind Randle with 30 points (11-of-21), seven assists, and two rebounds. He was listed as questionable with a foot contusion after getting injured in New York’s win over Sacramento on Sunday. His availability changed everything.
The Knicks will remain in Chicago to prepare to take on the Bulls for a second straight game on Friday night at United Center.
Knicks earn fifth straight victory with an impressive 128-120 overtime win over Bulls
Let’s take a look at how Knicks Twitter reacted to the team’s win.
It’s actually Quentin, but okay. Oh, and speaking of Quentin, here’s him knocking down a huge three to the tune of Mike Breen’s infamous BANG!
You’re right, Ben. New York’s trio of Randle (31), Brunson (30), and Barrett (22) combined for 83 points.
Let Jalen cook! He should’ve touched the ball in New York’s final play in regulation rather than have Randle stand there for 24 seconds. Tom Thibodeau isn’t known as an offensive mastermind.
Sorry not sorry, Alex Caruso, but Brunson owns the state of Illinois. The point guard was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in his junior and senior seasons at Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois.
Just for fun, here’s the Celine Dion version of Brunson’s three.
To wrap things up, here’s a hot take that isn’t so hot.
Not only is New York’s basketball team better than Chicago’s, but the pizza is better, too. Let’s hope that the Knicks keep this same energy in their second matchup against the Bulls.
